CommEnfantAnimal

Website Redesign

Project Overview

CommEnfantAnimal is a website offering animal communication services with the primary goal of helping families, adults, and children build a strong bond with their pets.

For this project, I was responsible for redesigning the site, as the existing website appeared outdated and lacked user-friendliness. The text was hard to understand, and the information needed to be restructured to better attract potential customers.

Problem statement

Before beginning the redesign, I conducted research and competitive analysis to understand the strengths and weaknesses of similar products in the market. Additionally, a usability study was carried out on the existing website to identify issues users faced while navigating the site.

The research and feedback highlighted three major user pain points. Firstly, users struggled to read key information because the text was too lengthy. Secondly, although all testers successfully completed the task of filling out a form to book a session, 80% found it challenging. Finally, despite seeking a coach to aid in communication with their pets, most users were reluctant to book a session due to a lack of trust in the coach’s qualifications and competencies.

Solution

1.

To improve the readability of the new website, I separated the information into four different features: Services, Testimonials, Program Selection and Booking, and FAQ. Additionally, I utilized illustrations to reinforce user comprehension.

2.

I completely redesigned the booking system, creating a streamlined three-step reservation process to avoid overwhelming users with too much information at once. Previously, users were required to send the animal’s photo, age, and gender via WhatsApp, which caused confusion. Now, this information can be easily entered within the new booking process, making it more user-friendly.

3.

Since CommEnfantAnimal is a small, single-person business, it’s important to highlight the founder’s expertise. To build trust with potential customers, I added a label on the landing page displaying ‘Years of Experience’ and ‘Number of Clients Served,’ along with a testimonials section.

Conclusion & What I learned

This project posed a significant challenge. During the primary research phase, I identified numerous UI issues in the original website, including problems with visual hierarchy, alignment, color (WCAG compliance), and typography. Detecting these issues wasn’t easy, but I completed multiple visual iterations to find the best solution each time.

Next Steps

I will continue to practice and refine my UI skills, iterating to improve my visual designs.
